Growing Ceylon Spinach

Ceylon Spinach is popularly known as 'di huang miao' in Mandarin or 'wong dai miew' in Cantonese.  When cooked, it has a slightly slimy texture which is similar to that of the lady fingers (okra).

Ceylon Spinach can be grown from stem either in water or soil, and this was what the Swallow did with the leftover stems after cooking the top part of the vegetable.  She had deemed it such a waste to throw the stems away, so she was happy to find out that it was possible to grow the vegetable from its stem.

With help from one of her young ones, the Swallow gathered the discarded stems and plunked them into a container of water.

Only time will tell whether this experiment turns out well...
