Singapore celebrated its 45th year yesterday with a spectacular show at the Padang. The Swallow and her family watched the display from the comfort of home. At 2010 hours precisely, they joined numerous Singaporeans from across Singapore in one voice to recite the country's pledge and to sing its national anthem.
Singapore may not be the Swallow's country of birth, but it is the country of her calling, and she is happy to be called a Singaporean. And if home is where the heart is...then the Swallow is at home.
